Shabbat at Mosh had a huge impact on me. On Fridays we had Mifkad all dressed in white, Shira, Dinner all together, and staying up late. On Saturdays we had Mifkad in Chultzot, followed by “Jimbalaya” with everyone at Mosh in one circle. This all gives a festive and uniquely Shomer feeling to the ancient and important Shabbat tradition. Of course, there is much more to Shomria’s Shabbat: The community feeling, Rikudai’am, the special Tarbut programs, ice cream and (a little bit of) rest. To this day I feel a connection to the Shabbat culture that I celebrate which, together with my family’s traditions, comes from my identity as a Shomer.

Though I was part of HH for five years I only went to Perth once, in 1970. I loved taking that group picture and a few years back when it was on line to help identify everyone in the group. I remember the tiyul David Girard led a group of campers on. It was suppose to be a day hike but it turned into an overnight and everyone was worried. David came back as if nothing had happened. also there was the mustard and ketchup raid, I think courtesy of David and Efraim. While
everyone was sleeping snuggly in their sleeping bags before camp began, they tiptoed their way into the cabin or library or where ever we were sleeping and squirted ketchup and mustard on all of us. My friend Beth woke up and said that she felt like a hot dog! there was sneaking into the kitchen for pies at night, and the songbook fight Efraim and Erez had. I posted
some pictures on the HH perth site on Facebook.
Take care,
